Agartala: Vidyasagar College in Belonia hosted a solemn event to mark Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. The college departments of Political Science, History, and Education teamed up with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell to hold the discussion. They gathered to honor the millions of people who lost their lives or homes during the 1947 tragedy.
Rajnagar MLA Sapna Majumdar acted as the primary speaker for the program. She challenged the local youth to study the wounds of history to better understand their responsibilities today. "The memory of displacement and sacrifice must remind us to build a society rooted in solidarity, respect and peaceful coexistence," Majumdar said.
College Principal Dr. Monoranjan Das pushed students to look past the historical dates. He wants the next generation to focus on compassion and tolerance to prevent future conflict. Faculty members Dr. Rabindra Shukla Das, Sushil Koloi, and Manish Prasad also spoke at length. They detailed the collapse of communities and the lasting pain caused by mass displacement.
The event closed with a group pledge. Everyone present vowed to defend national unity and democratic values. They hope to turn the lessons of 1947 into a stronger, more inclusive India.
