Itanagar: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan launched a four-day tour of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. The trip ends September 9. He arrived in Guwahati on September 6 to hit the Golden Jubilee of Geetanagar College, formerly Kanya Mahavidyalaya. He also attended the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences convocation.
The pace picks up. On September 7, he laid foundation stones at Gauhati University and spoke with students and faculty at the Convention Centre. He then headed to Shillong for a public reception at Soso Tham Auditorium. He reaches Imphal on September 8 to tour the INA Museum and War Memorial at Moirang, plus the local Sainik School, before flying to Itanagar.
Arunachal Pradesh is currently holding a two-day special session of the eighth Assembly in Itanagar. The session commemorates 50 years of democratic history. Legislators wasted no time during the opening day. They passed three bills focused on business, safety, and infrastructure.
The House approved the Arunachal Pradesh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Facilitation, Establishment and Operation) Ordinance, 2026. They also cleared the Arunachal Pradesh Fires and Emergency Services (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Arunachal Pradesh Airport Area Development Authority Bill, 2026. Officials say the measures aim at "facilitating the establishment and operation of small businesses and promoting employment."
Radhakrishnan will attend the special session on September 9. He plans to tour the Assembly Gallery-cum-Museum, Nyedar Namlo, Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum, and the Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired.
