Aizawl: Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan visited Mizoram this week to underscore the importance of education and sustainable agriculture in achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. During his visit to the Kolasib district, the minister engaged with students at a PM SHRI model school to discuss how innovation and civic responsibility will define the country's future.
At the Indian Council of Agricultural Research center in Kolasib, Murugan launched the Khed Bachao Abhiyan. This new campaign seeks to advance chemical-free farming and improve soil health through modern agricultural techniques. Addressing local farmers and officials, he stressed the long-term importance of the sector, stating, "Agriculture will remain a core pillar of India's development strategy."
To bolster food security, the minister called for the integration of climate-resilient methods and advanced scientific inputs for local cultivators. In meetings with state officials and the Young Mizo Association, Murugan reaffirmed the central government's commitment to prioritizing infrastructure, tourism, and education in the Northeast.
He also highlighted recent progress in women's empowerment and sports within Mizoram. Improved connectivity has already begun to benefit the tourism sector, and the government is currently working with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region to promote the state as a destination for film production to further strengthen the local economy.
