Agartala: Tripura plans to wrap up a slate of major transport infrastructure projects by December 2026. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury confirmed the timeline during a September 9 meeting at the Secretariat conference hall.
New motor stands are rising in Melaghar, Gandacherra, Jirania, Jolaibari, Manu Ghat, and Santirbazar. Construction crews are also building District Transport Offices in Kailashahar, Teliamura, and Bishramganj. Workers are assembling a high-end bus port at Rajarbagh in the Gomati district to boost regional connectivity. Additional modern motor stands are slated for Sidhai-Mohanpur, Bir Chandra Manu, Jatanbari, and Bishalgarh.
Chowdhury highlighted the government's push to fix up infrastructure for better passenger access. He emphasized, "The government was focused on upgrading transport infrastructure to improve passenger convenience and facilitate easier movement across the state." The minister also pointed to a need for better facilities for those working within the sector.
Transport Commissioner Subrata Chowdhury updated the minister on project progress. The meeting included top engineering officials, specifically Anup Kumar Das from the Public Works Department, Sudhan Debbarma from Water Resources, and Kshudhiram Tripura from the Rural Development Department.
