Agartala: Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a high-level meeting at the state secretariat on Wednesday. He reviewed priority transport projects funded under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. Officials from the Public Works, Transport, Rural Development, Tourism, and Water Resources departments attended the session.
The group analyzed the status of sanctioned work, current implementation hurdles, and administrative steps needed to finish the projects. Chowdhury highlighted that modern transport infrastructure sits at the heart of the state development agenda. The SASCI program offers the state a chance to boost capital spending on roads and connectivity. "These projects are not just about infrastructure; they are about strengthening the backbone of Tripura’s economy and improving the daily lives of our citizens," Chowdhury stated.
Staff updated the Minister on project timelines and specific bottlenecks slowing down progress. Chowdhury ordered the departments to tighten coordination and remove any obstacles immediately. He demanded accountability from all involved agencies. The federal government launched SASCI to give states targeted cash for major capital investments. Tripura is using these funds to modernize connectivity and expand its infrastructure base.
