Agartala: Tripura shattered its investment goals at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026. The state secured agreements totaling Rs 1.22 lakh crore, surpassing the initial Rs 1 lakh crore target. The two-day event, held July 9 and 10 at the Hapania International Fair Ground in Agartala, drew over 500 delegates. Attendees included representatives from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, the Maldives, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Russia, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Lao PDR, Chile, and South Africa.
Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the summit. Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia attended the session, while Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal spoke via video link. High-level officials, including Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran, oversaw the proceedings. The government previously held roadshows in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Guwahati, netting 189 intents worth Rs 6,457 crore.
Tech investment dominated the agenda. The Department of Information Technology signed 43 MoUs worth Rs 10,000 crore. Partnerships include Google India for AI and cloud infrastructure, and Salesforce for digital governance. Director Jeya Ragul Geshan B. noted, “Our policies are already delivering results.” The state also showcased Airtel’s new Rs 200-crore Nxtra Data Centre project. Additional tech deals involve Da’Spatio Rhobotique Laboratory, Bodhi Tree Multimedia, Elvania Energies 369, and Indigi Consulting.
Energy and agriculture saw massive capital infusions. REC Limited committed Rs 15,000 crore, split between a Rs 5,000 crore deal for the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency and a Rs 10,000 crore project with the state power department. Meanwhile, the tea sector locked in Rs 726 crore via four MoUs with Monoworld Recycling, Iti Bachok Foundation, Infidirect Tech Solutions, and NDR Infrastructure. The state also signed 33 tourism-related MoUs worth Rs 12,300 crore.
Beyond the conclave, the administration continues to modernize state operations. The government is monitoring rural schools through a new online system and procuring 20,710 metric tons of paddy from local farmers. Furthermore, authorities are upgrading equipment at three district hospitals and preparing to expand digital infrastructure with a planned IT park.
