Agartala: Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has urged the central government to launch a direct flight service connecting Agartala and Mumbai. In a formal letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Chowdhury emphasized that improved air links are vital for integrating the northeastern state with India's primary commercial hubs.

The minister stated that many residents frequently travel to Mumbai for business, specialized healthcare, higher education, and employment opportunities. Current travel options rely on connecting flights, which lead to increased costs, longer journey times, and significant inconvenience for passengers.

Chowdhury believes a non-stop route would serve as a catalyst for investment, tourism, and stronger social ties between Tripura and Maharashtra. Beyond simplifying travel, the minister argued that direct connectivity would support Tripura's long-term development by facilitating better trade and business growth. He requested that the Ministry of Civil Aviation prioritize this proposal to enhance regional accessibility and unlock the state's economic potential.
