Agartala: Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury is pressing the Central Government to establish direct flight services between Agartala and Mumbai. In a formal letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Chowdhury highlighted the urgent need for a stronger air link between the northeastern state and India's financial hub.

Chowdhury noted that residents of Tripura frequently travel to Mumbai for healthcare, education, trade, and employment opportunities. He explained that current travel options, which rely on connecting flights, lead to long transit times and added expenses for patients, students, business owners, and government officials.

The minister argued that a direct route would boost regional connectivity and support the state's broader economic and tourism goals. If a dedicated service is not currently feasible, he suggested that the Ministry could investigate ways to improve scheduling and create more seamless connections within existing policies. This request aligns with ongoing initiatives across the Northeast to integrate the region more effectively with major metropolitan centers to stimulate local growth and investment.
