Agartala: Tripura authorities have implemented strict security measures across Agartala in anticipation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on Thursday evening. The minister is scheduled to arrive following his attendance at the North Eastern Council plenary session in Shillong, Meghalaya.
As part of the preparations, Tripura Police conducted a comprehensive security rehearsal on Wednesday along the city's VIP Road. The trial run, which included route verification and convoy coordination checks, stretched from the State Guest House to the Pushpabanta Palace. While the exercise caused temporary traffic congestion, police confirmed the measures are essential to ensure flawless coordination during the minister's movements. Approximately 15 key checkpoints have been established, and additional security personnel are stationed at sensitive locations throughout the capital.
During his visit, Shah will focus on regional security and border management. He is set to inspect border fencing and the Border Outpost at Lankamura, located along the India-Bangladesh border. A high-level meeting with the Border Security Force and other security agencies is also on his agenda to address issues concerning infiltration and smuggling.
In addition to security reviews, the minister will participate in several public engagements. These include a tree plantation drive, a Sainik Sammelan, and the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a proposed hotel project at the Pushpabanta Palace site on Friday.
