Agartala: Tripura is moving to bring its traditional textile industry to the international stage through a new consultative initiative titled Textiles for Global Markets. Held at the PRTI Conference Hall in Ambassa, the event was organized by the Union Ministry of Textiles alongside the Tripura Department of Handlooms, Handicrafts and Sericulture. This effort supports India’s national goal to reach 100 billion dollars in textile exports by 2030.

Textiles Minister Bikash Debbarma inaugurated the event, joined by Dhalai Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Susmita Das, Ambassa Municipal Council Chairperson Pratima Malakar, Department Director Ajit Shukla Das, and Additional District Magistrate Van Lal Dika Darlong. The meeting served as a forum for officials, local entrepreneurs, and artisans to discuss how to improve product quality, design innovation, and export readiness.

Minister Debbarma stated that the government remains focused on strengthening institutional support and skill development to help local products meet global demand. By fostering these sectors, officials expect to create sustainable livelihoods for the youth and artisan communities while ensuring the preservation of Tripura's unique textile heritage.
