Kohima: State infrastructure projects are moving ahead. Assistant Chief Engineer Sungtiba Amer led a Civil Administration Works Division team through Wokha, Tseminyu, and Mokokchung on Friday to verify construction status.
The Wokha Deputy Commissioner office remains on track for a May 2027 opening. This building features a G+1 design with two basement floors. Officials issued the work order in June 2025, allowing 36 months for the State Level Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee approved project. Amer walked the site with Wokha Deputy Commissioner K. Mhathung Tsanglao to confirm the build meets specifications.
Progress is steady. Amer noted: "Periodic departmental inspections play a vital role in tracking project implementation, addressing challenges at an early stage, ensuring quality construction and facilitating the timely completion of vital government infrastructure projects."
The team moved to Tseminyu to review work with Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch. This site includes a new office complex, flat-type quarters, and a proposed bungalow. Funded by state coffers and the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme, the office is a G+2 reinforced concrete building. It includes a 150-seat conference hall, elevator, and accessibility features for people with disabilities.
The tour ended in Mokokchung. Amer met with Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma to examine the site for a new Additional Deputy Commissioner residence. They also reviewed ongoing construction for flat-type officers' quarters.
