Gangtok: Sikkim rapper Ugen Namgyal Bhutia, known as UNB, was attacked in Arunachal Pradesh on September 21. The assault occurred on an isolated road about 39 km from Roing. UNB and his team were driving from Anini when two vehicles tracked them down. The attackers forced the car to stop. They used an iron rod to smash the vehicle before beating the rapper and his manager, Deep Dhar.

UNB sustained head and face injuries, including a swollen eye. The attackers bolted when another car appeared on the scene. Police struggled to start the investigation early on due to the remote terrain and lack of cell service. Dhar believes a rap feud could be the cause of the violence. He noted that industry friction happens, though the specific motive remains unclear.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang contacted Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu to demand protection for his citizens. Both leaders worked together to pull the team to safety. Despite the violence, the rapper intends to keep working in the state. Dhar claims local fans remain supportive. As he put it, "Arunachal is the best audience for UNB." The team already has new event requests lined up for the region.
