Arunachal Man Arrested for Brutal Assault on Elderly Woman

Itanagar: Police arrested a man in Arunachal Pradesh after he allegedly assaulted a 70-year-old woman. The attack occurred September 9 in the Lower Dibang Valley district. The victim was walking home from her agricultural field when the incident began. The suspect, Kangge Pertin, choked the woman and forced her to the ground.

He fled the scene after hearing people nearby. Law enforcement officers at the Dambuk police station filed charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case includes counts of rape and attempt to murder. Authorities brought Pertin before a court following his arrest. The judge remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody.

The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society issued a sharp response to the crime. The group "condemned the alleged assault and called for strict action against the accused." Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
