Itanagar: Police arrested a hotel operator from Ludhiana, Punjab, following allegations of sexual assault against a 17-year-old girl. The girl worked as housekeeping staff at his hotel located near the Mini Secretariat in Hapoli, Lower Subansiri district.
Lower Subansiri Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra said the incident occurred on July 31. The accused asked the minor to accompany him on a trip to buy items. He made inappropriate advances inside his car during the drive. The girl objected. The man responded with threats, warning the girl not to reveal what happened.
The girl reported the crime to the authorities. Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act. The suspect fled to Ziro after the incident. Officers tracked him down and eventually arrested him in Naharlagun.
