Gangtok: Sikkim officially cleared its voter rolls of 54,209 names following a Special Intensive Revision. The Election Commission released the final figures on September 6, 2026. The state now counts 418,467 total electors.
Dead weight hit the list hard. The ASDD category—Absentee, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate—accounted for 37,724 removals. Officials tracked 10,837 deaths and 14,603 permanent shifts. Another 8,648 people were marked absent or untraceable, while 2,396 appeared as duplicates. Miscellaneous categories claimed the remaining 1,253 entries.
Authorities reviewed claims between July 5 and August 4, 2026. They handled 16,867 objections via Form 7, 2,052 new requests via Form 6, and 1,549 adjustments through Form 8. After checking the data, the state deleted 16,809 additional names. This included 16,485 ineligible individuals and 324 cases involving death or shifting.
The process added 1,982 new voters. Despite these gains, the total count fell by 14,827 people, a 3.42 percent drop from the draft rolls. The final tally includes 212,534 men, 205,931 women, and two third-gender voters. An Election Commission official noted, "A total of 54,209 electors have been excluded from Sikkim's Final Electoral Roll 2026 following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision."
