Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police arrested six people and dismantled two militant camps during a sweep across the state on July 14 and July 15. The crackdown follows the arrest of Ngathem Bhimojit Singh, an active cadre of the proscribed KCP-MC (Progressive) faction. Officials caught Singh in the Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai area under the Porompat Police Station in Imphal East.

Intelligence gathered from Singh led teams to raid a hideout at Ishok Mamang Leikai near Loktak Lake in Imphal West. There, forces found four modified bolt-action rifles, one modified .303 rifle, an M2 carbine with a telescopic sight, a 9 mm pistol, and 26 rounds of ammunition. A second raid in forested terrain near Mongbung village in Jiribam unearthed a larger cache. This haul included one Pumpi gun, two country-made pistols, four 12-bore SBBL guns, two .36 hand grenades, and three 51 mm mortar shells. Teams also logged 331 rounds of ammo, 17 magazines, and gear including bulletproof jacket covers, jungle shoes, and camouflage trousers.

On July 15, police also arrested Sanjrambam Khunjaoba Meitei and Laishram Sonamani Meitei in Imphal East. A search of Sonamani Meitei's home turned up a .38 pistol, two magazines, and 11 rounds. Further operations on July 14 in Ukhrul district’s TM Kasom and Sikibung villages netted four more arrests. Forces identified the group as Wungphayo Kasar, Ninglum Awungshi, Lunglen Yaoreingam, and Vareiyo Lunglen. They seized two SBBL guns, live cartridges, and a wireless set.

Officials confirmed that all evidence is now with local police. Security agencies say they have "intensified combing and search operations across the state as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks and prevent the resurgence of insurgent activities." Investigations continue as forces try to lock down the region.
