Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur ordered all Kuki-Zo legislators to boycott the upcoming state Assembly session. The six-day event starts September 2 and runs through September 7. Lawmakers face a choice. The body warned that those who show up will be seen as working against the community. It explicitly stated that legislators who disregard the directive could be viewed as "acting against the community's collective political position."
KIM demands a separate political administration for the Kuki-Zo people. They claim normal legislative business cannot move forward while the state remains in crisis. Attending the session, they argue, signals a false sense of normalcy. It could weaken their push for a lasting political settlement. Nine Kuki-Zo representatives hold seats in the 60-member Assembly. This group includes Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen and six other BJP lawmakers. The session will feature three sittings, but the specific plans of these nine officials remain unclear.

KIM specifically instructed representatives to avoid traveling to Imphal for the eighth session of the Assembly. The organization emphasized that political representation cannot be divorced from the will of the people, demanding that legislators demonstrate solidarity with their constituents at this junction.
While the initial report cited nine representatives, latest figures from the apex body now put the count of Kuki-Zo legislators at ten.
