Manipur Assembly Opens With Tributes to Four Former Legislators

Imphal: The eighth session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly kicked off today in Imphal. Lawmakers set aside political differences to honor four former legislators who recently passed away. Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh moved the formal resolution. The House adopted the motion unanimously.

Members mourned Longjam Ningthemjao Singh of the 2-Heingang constituency, K. Envey from 43-Phungyar ST, Md. Maniruddin Sheikh of 30-Lilong, and A.S. Arthur representing 44-Ukhrul ST. The chamber stood silent for two minutes. This was a mark of respect for the departed souls.

Leader of the House Y. Khemchand Singh opened the floor for references. Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Home Minister K. Govindas Singh, and senior member O. Ibobi Singh offered their condolences. Legislators K. Meghachandra, Th. Lokeshwar Singh, Ram Muivah, and Leishiyo Keishing also shared their grief. All members expressed profound sorrow over the losses during the session.
