Kohima: Sazolie College gathered at Vineizono Hall in Phezhü Jotsoma on Thursday to celebrate its latest graduating class. The ceremony kicked off with an academic procession, the college anthem, and an invocation from assistant professor Ajungla Jamir.
Principal Dr. Gopal Chetri told the students they must look past their degrees. He framed the event as the start of a new life phase. Academic dean Dr. Puspanjoli D. Nakhro presented the report, praising the students for their work throughout the year.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dipak Sinha of Nagaland University delivered the commencement address. He urged the group to be bold. "Graduation should be viewed not as the end of an academic journey but as the beginning of a new phase of life," he noted while pushing for excellence and adaptability.
The stage saw several top performers recognized for high CGPAs. Talirenla from the Department of Psychology took the first position with a 9.60 CGPA and grabbed the Management Topper’s Award. Bendanglemla took second with 9.43, and Khrotsho-u Lasuh hit fourth with 9.13. Other psychology standouts included Watimen I. Longchar at 9.08 and Yapangsenla at 8.66.
Political science students made their mark too. Esther T. Ezung placed third with a 9.27 CGPA. Pezavino Nagi took ninth with 8.88. Talirenla earned the Alumni Academic Excellence Award, while Bendanglemla claimed the Student of the Year title.
Edward P. Sangtam chaired the event. Akhrülü Swuro and Benchumo T. Ezung provided music, and Talirenla gave the valedictory address. Chaplain Nzanthung Kikon ended the day with a benediction.
