Gangtok: Pink flowers are blanketing the Kupup and Gnathang valleys in East Sikkim. The rare Himalayan blooms emerged at altitudes between 13,000 and 13,500 feet. The region usually stays locked under heavy snow and freezing temperatures. Now, the terrain is vibrant.
Tourists and photographers are swarming the area to capture the color. Social media creators are also making the trek. Intermittent drizzle and thick mist have made the site look even better. These conditions have turned the area into a temporary hotspot for visitors coming from both inside and outside Sikkim.
This floral display will not last. The season is short. As officials noted, the bloom ends when the "onset of winter and snowfall" buries the valley under snow again. For now, the flowers offer a unique break from the usual winter chill and provide a quick boost to local tourism.
