Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang sees a bright future for remote villages through mountain biking. He praised the International Downhill MTB Series held at Zoom Rock Garden in the Soreng district as proof that rugged terrain drives global recognition.

Organizers Zabarvan Extreme and Zoom GPU pulled riders from eight countries to the mountain trails. Three local riders from Sikkim competed alongside the international field. The event signals a clear shift for the state toward sustainable adventure tourism.

The Chief Minister highlighted how the unique trails provide paths for economic growth. He believes these events highlight local assets while forcing the state into the international sporting conversation. "Events like these not only provide a platform for riders to showcase their skills and determination but also place our state on the international sporting map, while promoting tourism and creating opportunities for local communities," Tamang said.

Tamang offered encouragement to the participants. He specifically praised the local riders for representing the region. He hopes to see more youth pick up the sport to secure the state's status as a top-tier destination. Ride hard, ride safe, and keep the spirit of adventure alive.
