Gangtok: The Sikkim Tourism and Civil Aviation Department flipped the switch on four digital initiatives on October 6. Tourism and Commerce Minister Tshering T Bhutia attended the launch event. The state aims to drag its tourism sector into the modern era.

A new web portal now handles everything for the Sikkim Adventure Tourism Fest 2026. The festival runs from November 1 to 7 in the Namchi district. Officials showcased the site through a video demo. They also distributed official festival T-shirts and brochures during the event.

Digital administration hit the Institute of Hotel Management in Gangtok. It is the first school in the state to use a fully online e-Office system. The Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation followed suit. It became the first public sector undertaking in the region to adopt the same platform.

The department updated the Atithi GIS portal to streamline visitor services. Guests can now book trips and pay online. The state government previously moved permit requests and registration renewals to its primary tourism website. As the minister stated, the goal is "modernising tourism services and promoting the state's tourism industry."
