Guwahati: Tension boiled over in Kokrajhar on July 14. A female employee accused her employer, Amratanch Rajtogi, of long-term sexual abuse. Rajtogi owns a shop called Little Sarojini Nagar, a clothing and accessories outlet in Kadamtola. The suspect, a businessman from Rajasthan, remains on the run.
Angry residents and members of local organizations gathered outside the store. They demanded an immediate arrest. The protest turned violent as the mob ransacked the business. People threw clothes and accessories into the street and damaged the remaining merchandise. The victim filed a formal complaint at the Kokrajhar Sadar Police Station. Law enforcement has launched an investigation into the matter.
Police are still hunting for Rajtogi. Authorities have yet to provide an update on the case. As the town waits for answers, residents continue to call for justice. One observer noted the situation, "The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the town, with protesters demanding swift police action and justice for the victim."
