Kokrajhar Residents Protest Against Gas Distributor Over Supply Failures

Guwahati: Angry consumers swarmed the Baokhungri HP Gas office in Assam’s Kokrajhar district yesterday. They demanded answers after six months of empty stoves. People held booking OTPs that never turned into deliveries. The distributor, owned by Bistu Ram Narzary, failed to supply the fuel despite persistent requests.

Protestors claim the distributor feeds the black market instead of local homes. Over 1,000 Ujjwala LPG beneficiaries rely on this specific outlet for their cooking needs. Customers repeatedly contacted the Kokrajhar district administration and senior department officials to report the irregularities. Nothing changed.

Tension spiked as the crowd grew outside the facility. Employees eventually fled the site to escape the mounting pressure. Frustrated residents continue to seek accountability for the missing gas. As one resident stated, "The distributor had offered different explanations for the failure to deliver cylinders, leaving customers without a reliable supply."
