Meghalaya Deputy CM Sniawbhalang Dhar Shrugs Off CJP Challenge

Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar dismissed fears that the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) threatens his NPP party. He spoke in Shillong on October 12. The CJP recently grabbed headlines for taking on the BJP-led federal government.

Dhar remains calm. He is not scared of this new political player. He insists that local voters have a steady hand. "I love and respect the youths of Meghalaya. They are intelligent and they know what to do in the future," Dhar said.

The NPP leader is a close ally of the BJP. Even so, he refused to engage with the CJP demand to fire Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He kept his stance brief.
