Guwahati: A teenager died Wednesday at a tea estate director's bungalow in Cachar, Assam. The girl, Jonaki Orang, worked at the home of Borakhai Tea Estate director Rajan Sudan for six months. The residence sits within the Barkhola Assembly constituency. Her family says she left for work at 8 a.m. but received a call two hours later claiming she collapsed from dizziness.
Orang was dead by the time she reached the Dak Bungalow Primary Health Centre. Sudan tells a different story. He claims he spoke to her that morning before hearing cries from a rear storeroom. He said, "I heard loud cries and rushed to a storeroom behind the bungalow, where he allegedly found her hanging." Workers pulled her down and rushed her to the clinic.
The family questions the narrative. They insist Orang never used a mobile phone, yet one appeared at the scene. They report the device tracked 48 calls placed before the tragedy. Police have filed a case but made no arrests. Investigators are now waiting for the post-mortem report to explain how she died.
