Assam Minister Piyush Hazarika Tours Cachar Agricultural Sites

Guwahati: Assam Minister Piyush Hazarika touched down in Silchar Thursday morning for a tour of agricultural sites across the Barak Valley. He headed straight to the Dewan Tea Estate on October 29 to review the local palm oil production and logistics.

The minister then traveled to the Phulerthal Markulin area in the Lakhipur Assembly constituency. He walked the pineapple fields and spoke directly with the growers to identify specific hurdles facing their operations. Hazarika praised the quality of the harvest. "Markulin's pineapples as a matter of pride for Assam," he said, citing the fruit's reach into both national and international markets.

Farmers used the meeting to air grievances and submit formal demands to the state government. Hazarika promised to tackle these issues quickly. Before leaving the area for Hailakandi, the minister planned to chair a meeting at the Silchar District Commissioner's office to wrap up his visit.
