Peren, Tseminyu, and Longleng Officials Convene for DPDB Meetings

Kohima: District Planning and Development Board members gathered in Peren, Tseminyu, and Longleng on August 6 to map out infrastructure projects and Independence Day logistics. The meetings focused on district-specific woes ranging from school staffing to monsoon recovery.

In Peren, Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru led proceedings at the DC Conference Hall. With MLA Namri Nchang absent, the board tackled the status of the Government Primary School, Libemphai. Although the government ordered its closure, the school remains active with 26 students under community teachers. The board voted to petition for a review and the assignment of government staff.

The Peren board also approved the LADP/ICONIC schemes for the 6 Tening and 7 Peren Assembly Constituencies. They greenlit the registration for the Affected Land Owner Association of National Highway-129A, Package-1A. Meru demanded vigilance regarding shifting weather patterns and disaster reporting. Officials scheduled a mass social work for August 7.

Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch chaired the meeting at the local DC Conference Hall. Assistant Urban Development Officer L. Rokovono presented the Solid Waste Management 2026 plan. Woch insisted that planning must involve local NGOs and civil groups. The DC stated, "The deputy commissioner stressed the need for timely preparation of district-level action plans involving government departments, civil society organisations, NGOs and other stakeholders to strengthen waste management."

Longleng faced a different challenge. Recent heavy rains crippled road and telecom links. Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom ordered agriculture departments to submit damage assessments for forests, houses, and farmland. The board reviewed revised district award criteria, now including civil society organizations alongside government workers. They scheduled a mass social work for August 8.

Other Longleng developments included a proposal for a Civil Defence unit and status updates on the 132/33 KV substation at Pongo village. The board tasked departments with field assessments for a new drainage proposal submitted by the Eastern Naga Women Organisation.
