Mon and Pughoboto boards drive regional infrastructure growth

Kohima: Pughoboto Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board officials greenlit major infrastructure projects on August 6. Chairman Dr. Sukhato A. Sema and Vice-Chairman James T. Khulu led the session at the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office. The board approved plans for an amphitheatre at Pughoboto Headquarters and a football ground in Asukiqa. Officials want to promote grassroots talent and preserve local culture.

The board also tackled maintenance issues. They decided to lobby for state support for the Pughoboto Helipad after recognizing the Bible Society of India for its work on the site. A new two-member committee will investigate a dispute regarding the Town Cemetery land after original donors reclaimed the site from the district administration. The committee includes the Extra Assistant Commissioner and the Personal Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner.

Education and utility updates rounded out the meeting. The board recommended Grant-in-Aid funding for the Pughoboto Mission School and the New Foundation School. The Department of Power delivered a performance report, while the Soil and Water Conservation Department received orders to present next. The chair concluded the meeting by "reaffirming the Board's commitment to advancing infrastructure, education, sports, cultural development and public welfare initiatives across Pughoboto Sub-Division."

Separately, Mon Deputy Commissioner Wennyei Konyak issued a notice for the district board. The Mon District Planning & Development Board will meet on August 13. The session starts at 11:30 a.m. in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. All members must attend.
