Kohima: The Naga People's Front issued a sharp statement today. They say the Indo-Naga issue belongs to every Naga citizen. It does not belong to any single political party, individual, or outside group.
This pushback follows a recent statement from the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups. The committee had waded into a debate over an oil exploration deal. The NPF insists the matter is rooted in the long history of sacrifices made by generations of local people.
Party leaders emphasized the weight of their heritage. "The Indo-Naga issue does not belong to any individual, group or political party," the NPF stated. They see the cause as a collective burden for the entire population.
Regional tensions remain high elsewhere. The boundary dispute between Assam and Nagaland continues to fester after decades of inaction. It stays one of the most difficult problems for the region to solve.
