Northeast Police Unite to Crush Regional Drug Trade

Kohima: Northeast police forces are joining ranks. Nagaland Director General of Police Rupin Sharma confirmed a coordinated action plan against drug traffickers will launch within 10 days. Senior officers from across the region met recently to draft this unified strategy. They aim to block narcotics movement across state borders and sharpen intelligence sharing.

Traffickers often exploit jurisdictional gaps between states. This new mechanism forces police to track suspects across multiple lines, including Manipur, Mizoram, and Assam. Intelligence will flow freely between agencies, making it harder for criminals to hide. Sharma noted, "law enforcement agencies alone cannot eliminate drug abuse without support from communities and society at large."

The ground work for this operation is finished. Officials expect better results soon as surveillance ramps up. While the DGP admits progress exists, he maintains that tackling the drug menace requires more than just police work. He is calling for full public participation to back the crackdown.
