Kohima: Chozuba village residents gathered July 18 to inaugurate the Nyekhatso-Shema Khühu, a traditional stone meeting place. Dimapur Deputy Commissioner of Police Khrüsa Keyho built the structure to serve the community. It sits beside the grave of his late father, Pitolu Keyho, a respected Christian leader. The site functions as a hub for public discourse and decision-making.
Küduve Keyho, personal secretary to the Advisor for the Civil Administration Works Division, opened the site as the guest speaker. He praised the initiative and pushed for unity. He told the crowd, "Do not politicise development works but to support them for the common good." Küduve Keyho also detailed ongoing infrastructure projects and the One Family: One Project, One Entrepreneur scheme, which distributes layer chickens to local farmers.
Historically, the Khühu acted as a center for oral traditions and conflict resolution. Chozuba Village Council chairman Lhusetso Shijoh noted that the space hosted early Christian evangelism starting in 1895 before the village finished its church. Former village council chairman Dusapra Nyekha urged the younger generation to maintain the sanctity of the institution. He reminded attendees that forefathers used these spaces to declare taboos and share news.
The event included a construction report from Nyekhatso Shema Welfare Organisation chairman Vethito Keyha. NSWO secretary Pudutso Nyekha chaired the ceremony. Additional remarks came from Head Gaon Bura Zasevoyi Ringa, with a vote of thanks delivered by Shemami GB Thuyengoyi Keyho. Sao Keyho of the Chozuba Village Baptist Church provided the invocation, while associate pastor Sazo Keyho closed the event with a benediction. Bayo Ceka performed a special song.
