Itanagar: The North East Students' Organisation (NESO) has issued a sharp condemnation following the discovery of six Naga men from Konsakhul Village who were abducted and killed in Manipur. The victims, who were taken from Leilon Vaiphei Village on May 13, were discovered dismembered on June 10. The group described the incident as "barbaric, inhumane and cold-blooded."
Representing a coalition of regional student bodies, NESO expressed outrage over reports that the victims endured torture and mutilation before their deaths. The organization labeled the level of cruelty displayed in the killings as something that is beyond comprehension. They have pledged their support to the grieving families and the people of Konsakhul Village.
NESO is calling for a transparent and urgent investigation to ensure those responsible are identified and prosecuted. The group warned that continued inaction by authorities will only encourage more violence. They pointed to the ongoing unrest in Manipur, where abductions and arson persist despite the presence of significant Central Security Forces.
Concerns were also raised regarding the effectiveness and neutrality of the security personnel stationed in the state. NESO challenged the government to address the lack of convictions for recent atrocities and warned that any evidence of complicity among security forces must be met with strict disciplinary action. To restore order, the organization urged the Indian government to prioritize citizen safety and dismantle the culture of impunity currently fueling the conflict.
