Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh para athlete Biri Takar dominated the court at the 2026 Brazil Para Badminton International. He grabbed a gold medal in the men's doubles event and added a bronze in the men's singles category. Takar remains a standout beneficiary of the state-run Chief Minister's Award to Champion Excellence in Sports, or CM ACES, initiative.

The Chief Minister praised the athlete's performance yesterday. He stated, "The CM ACES initiative is identifying promising athletes, providing them with the necessary support and creating champions who are bringing laurels to Arunachal Pradesh and the country on the international stage."

State officials confirm the win signals a shift for local athletes. The program provides targeted backing for rising stars. Takar's dual success serves as a clear milestone for India's para badminton team on the global stage.
