Itanagar: Youths and local residents in Lower Siang district fixed a broken iron bridge over the Siji River on Monday, August 3. The span near KN Resort had partially collapsed, cutting off the LBN villages of Lika, Bali, and Nilok from Likabali town. This route serves as a vital lifeline for locals.
Volunteers moved fast. They joined forces with community leaders and the district administration to patch the structure. The fix makes the bridge safe for light motor vehicles again. This restores essential access for commuters and families who depend on the road daily.
Organizers credited village leaders Moge Taipodia, Senri Taipodia, Bachi Taipodia, and Komter Gibi Tao for driving the effort. These men coordinated the workers and pushed for a quick result. Many residents also chipped in their own money to fund the emergency repairs.
Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor provided financial aid to speed up the work. Assistant Engineer Doli from the Public Works Department oversaw the technical support. The project serves as a clear sign of local resolve. "The successful restoration of the bridge was widely hailed as an example of community solidarity," said one local involved in the work. Officials say the bridge remains open to light vehicles while they weigh future plans for long-term safety.
