Itanagar: Dajum Kena is proving that dragon fruit is a money-maker in Likabali. The wife of late minister Jomde Kena started her plantation in November 2024. She pulled a harvest within twelve months. Her farm now serves as a local model for high-value horticulture.

Kena faces no trouble moving her stock. Customers regularly book the fruit well before it hits the market. She wants the next generation to stop chasing government desk jobs and look at farming instead. People are noticing. Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein praised her move toward agripreneurship.

Mein posted his support on social media after seeing her success. "It is encouraging to see agripreneurs like Smt. Dajum Kena ji leading the way in dragon fruit cultivation," he said. The Deputy Chief Minister hopes her work inspires others to seek profit in the soil.

The state government plans to back these efforts with better technical support and road access. They want to connect small farms to larger markets to keep rural incomes steady. Dragon fruit requires little cash to start. It pays out well. The state is betting on this crop to change the rural economy for good.
