Guwahati: Nagaon district officials launched an emergency dewatering operation in Batadrava overnight. Persistent waterlogging plagued the historic birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva, forcing the administration to act. Crews deployed a super sucker machine to pump out the stagnant water and provide immediate relief to the local community.
Nagaon District Commissioner toured the flooded heritage site to survey the damage. The official met with residents and promised to coordinate with relevant departments soon. The goal is to build a permanent plan to stop the flooding. "The administration would soon hold discussions with officials and staff of the concerned departments and formulate an action plan for a permanent solution to the waterlogging problem in the heritage site," the Commissioner stated.
Locals expressed satisfaction with the rapid response. The administration continues to monitor the site to prevent future flooding.
