Nagaland Updates CMHIS Registration and Emergency Approval Rules

Kohima: The Nagaland Health Protection Society ended emergency approval for the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme General Category. The Department of Health and Family Welfare confirmed the change in an October 31, 2026, memorandum. Emergency status remains available for those in the Employee and Pensioner Category.

Registration rules for single-member households have also changed. Authorities will no longer permit these registrations under standard circumstances. Applicants must now provide an affidavit sworn before a Magistrate or Notary Public to qualify. This legal document must rest on a declaration from a Ward Chairman, Village Council Chairman, or Gaon Bura.

Applicants must upload the affidavit during the sign-up process for state verification. According to the official memo, "The provision for emergency approval under the CMHIS General Category shall stand discontinued." The new regulations took effect immediately upon the issuance of the document.
