Nagaland trains government staff to boost public service

Kohima: Forty Nagaland government employees started a two-day workshop at the Administrative Training Institute in Kohima this week. The Karmayogi Kartavya Karyashala training program aims to improve how state staff handle public service duties. Departments involved include police, health, social welfare, municipal affairs, SCERT, and rural development.

Organizers want to build a stronger service attitude among frontline workers. The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department teamed up with the federal Capacity Building Commission to lead the sessions. They use a model where lead trainers certify local staff to spread these skills across every government office.

V Shashank Shekhar, Additional Chief Secretary, opened the event on July 1. He reminded the group that they have a duty to help those in need. "One of the foremost responsibilities of government servants is to serve the most vulnerable sections of society with dedication and empathy."

The training continues through July 2. Experts from RIMS Imphal and the Capacity Building Commission act as the primary instructors. Officials hope the effort will eventually help grow a better Nagaland.
