Kohima: Nagaland’s Directorate of Health and Family Welfare officially launched the Narcotic and Psychotropic Online Monitoring and Auditing System on Tuesday. The new digital platform tracks narcotic and psychotropic drug stocks in real time. It digitizes records and tightens oversight on prescriptions and distribution channels. Authorized officers now have centralized access to the data to boost enforcement efforts across the state.
The launch took place at the Drugs Control Administration conference hall in Kohima. It marked the end of a month-long induction program for newly hired drugs control officers. Principal Director Dr. Mereninla Senlem attended as the special guest to oversee the graduation. She noted the program bridge the gap between academic learning and practical field work. Senlem stated, "The induction training had been designed to equip newly recruited drugs control officers with the knowledge, skills and professional values required for effective regulatory enforcement and public service."
Officers spent the month learning office administration, inspection procedures, and legal filings. They shadowed judicial authorities and worked alongside police and excise officials. This inter-agency training aimed to sharpen their professional ethics and enforcement capabilities. Beyond the new software, the department plans to expand lab testing facilities. They also intend to standardize drug monitoring procedures across all district hospitals.
