Nagaland Partners With Royal Welsh College to Boost Music Education

Kohima: Nagaland’s Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) inked a deal with the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. The agreement aims to boost music education and exchange artistic talent. It marks a push to link Nagaland’s creative community with global partners.

Brian Weir, Dean of Students at the Royal Welsh College, spent five days in Nagaland this June. He toured the Music Academy Kohima, Tetso College, and the Margaret Shishak School of Music. He looked for ways to foster long-term cooperation. During his trip, Weir visited the Sunshine Orchestra at the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home to see how music changes young lives.

Weir also took part in World Music Day festivities. He saw how the state promotes its diverse performers. TaFMA officials believe this deal opens new doors for local students and educators. As TaFMA noted, the partnership "marks an important milestone in strengthening future collaboration between the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Nagaland’s music and cultural institutions."

The move sets a new path for innovation. Both sides want to bring local arts to a bigger stage.
