Kohima: Nagaland MP S. Supongmeren Jamir told officials in Phek to get the word out on government welfare programs. He wants more people signing up for benefits. The MP spoke at a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting on Wednesday. He stressed that jobs are scarce, so locals must focus on starting businesses and building their own livelihoods.

Jamir slammed the lack of new sign-ups for the old-age pension scheme. Records show no new beneficiaries have been added since 2017. Jamir promised he would contact the relevant ministry to force a fix. He said, "I would take up the matter with the concerned ministry for necessary intervention."

Advisor for CAWD Kudecho Khamo also weighed in. He pushed for better record-keeping. Departments must track elderly, widowed, and disabled citizens accurately to make sure help actually reaches those who need it most.
