Kohima: The Nagaland government will transition all birth and death registrations to a fully online system starting June 1, 2026. This shift, led by the Department of Economics and Statistics, aims to achieve 100 percent digital registration across the state.
Authorities confirmed that manual certificates issued before this date remain legally valid for all official purposes. Citizens do not need to replace existing documents, and the state will continue the ongoing process of digitizing older records. For those needing to file delayed registrations, the existing official procedures will continue to apply.
District Registrars and local registration units have received instructions to assist the public throughout this transition. Residents are encouraged to reach out to these local offices if they require support or have questions regarding the new digital requirements.
