Kohima: The Ayush Drug Control in Nagaland is cracking down on the medicine trade. The department started issuing mandatory drug licences for all homoeopathy pharmacies and distributors across the state effective immediately. Every wholesaler, stockist, and retailer must now get proper authorization to operate.

Officials gave stakeholders until August 31, 2026, to finish the paperwork. Failure to secure these documents means trouble. The department warned that any business running without a permit after that date will face enforcement under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Regulators say the move is meant to "strengthen regulatory compliance, ensure the availability of quality homoeopathic medicines and safeguard public health through improved monitoring and regulation of homoeopathic drug distribution across the state."

Business owners can find fee structures and application details at the Ayush Drug Control office. Staff are available during regular hours to help with the process. The state aims to tighten its grip on the local medical supply chain.
