Nagaland Educators Complete Social Emotional Learning Training in Kohima

Kohima: A four-day training session wrapped up in Kohima this week. The Directorate of School Education and Samagra Shiksha worked with the non-profit group Dream a Dream to run the event at the SCERT Office from June 9 to June 12. Thirty-three trainers from Educational Block Resource Centres and two DIET lecturers attended the workshop.

This marks the second phase of a state-wide push to improve school environments. The program focuses on self-awareness, empathy, and better classroom habits. Participants spent the week doing practice-based exercises to help them handle student emotional needs. Officials from Samagra Shiksha noted that the program aims to build confidence and creativity in the classroom. They stated that "strengthening educators’ social and emotional competencies as key to improving student wellbeing, building confidence and creativity, and fostering stronger classroom relationships."

The newly trained group will now lead the rollout of these methods. They are set to oversee implementation at 176 pilot schools across Nagaland. Their work aims to make Social Emotional Learning a standard part of daily lessons for students in the state.
