Nagaland Chief Minister Calls for Unity at New Kohima Facility Opening

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio opened the new Kohima Village Multipurpose Building on Friday. The facility sits at Ziekezou in the state capital. It serves as a hub for community meetings and cultural events. Rio told the crowd that unity is the only path forward. He said, "for our society to survive as a State and as a Naga, we need unity, cooperation, brotherhood and oneness."

The building holds up to 1,500 people. Officials laid the foundation stone back in April 2022. Rio stated the hall remains open to all communities for a small fee. He linked this development to the broader vision for a new Nagaland by 2047. The Chief Minister also asked leaders to help with the upcoming Census. He believes accurate data will guide the future of younger generations.

Advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome addressed the crowd as the host. He noted the immense pressure on the village due to its status as the state capital. Kohima village remains one of the largest in Asia. It currently houses nearly 28,000 residents across more than 5,000 households. The building stands as a symbol of local progress and commitment to state growth.
