Nagaland braces for four days of storms and heavy rain

Kohima: Nagaland officials warned of unsettled weather starting July 1. The State Disaster Management Authority predicts storms and rain through July 4. Get ready for trouble. Lightning will strike across the region.

Many districts face thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall on Monday. Chümoukedima, Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Zunheboto top the list. Conditions shift again on July 3. Thunderstorms target Kiphire, Longleng, Meluri, Mon, Noklak, Tseminyu, Wokha, and Zunheboto. Meanwhile, rain persists in Kohima, Mokokchung, Peren, Phek, Shamator, and Tuensang. The pattern lingers into July 4. Storms will blanket Kohima, Meluri, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Zunheboto.

The agency urges residents to stay alert. Watch for lightning. The NSDMA advised residents to "exercise caution, especially during thunderstorms and lightning activity, and to stay updated with official forecasts and advisories through the NSDMA Weather website and the SAFER Nagaland App for real-time updates."
