Kohima: Nagaland is facing a major weather threat. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority warned on Tuesday that 11 districts expect heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two days. Precipitation started Tuesday and threatens to trigger flash floods in low-lying spots like Dimapur and Niuland.
The advisory lists Kiphire, Wokha, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Tuensang, Tseminyu, and Longleng as high-risk zones. Rising water levels in rivers and streams could knock out roads and halt daily life. The authority said, "Officials are closely monitoring the situation and advised residents living near riverbanks and in low-lying areas to remain vigilant."
Officials are keeping a close watch. They told locals to stop non-essential travel while the downpour persists. Everyone should keep emergency contact details handy until the storm clears.
