Kohima: Nagaland officials met Tuesday at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations in Kohima to map out a new live entertainment economy. The state hired LiveNow to build the framework. They have a decade of experience creating sustainable industry models.
Secretary Orenthung Lotha led the discussion. He wants to move past viewing events as simple cultural outlets. He sees them as cash cows. Lotha says the state must, "recognise live entertainment not merely as an avenue for cultural expression and recreation, but as a viable economic sector capable of generating revenue, creating employment and stimulating allied industries."
The goal is to monetize large events and pour returns back into local pockets. Nagaland has the musical talent and youth to make this happen. It has the foundation. Director Atsunglir Jamir of LiveNow presented the initial research and the path forward.
The group has clear targets. They want to turn Nagaland into the primary entertainment hub for the Northeast. They plan to lure big national and international shows to the region. They will market everything under a single, recognizable brand called Nagaland Live. DIPR Director Dzuvinuo Theunuo welcomed the partnership as a major step for the state economy.
