Kohima: A delegation from the Naga Students' Federation met with Ajit Lal in New Delhi on Thursday. Lal serves as the Advisor for the North East to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The student leaders pressed him to speed up the stalled Naga peace process. They want a finish.

The federation asked the advisor to "sincerely" carry forward the ongoing peace talks. They insisted that the government must steer negotiations toward a logical and early conclusion. The group stressed that officials must remain sensitive to the deep-seated emotions and legitimate aspirations of the Naga people throughout the proceedings.

Beyond the peace talks, the delegation briefed the former Intelligence Bureau Special Director on the ground reality. Violence and unrest currently plague the region. The group highlighted the specific tensions of the Naga-Kuki conflict while calling for the immediate restoration of normalcy and peace.

The NSF described the sit-down as a major move to reaffirm their collective demand for a political settlement to the decades-old issue. A timely resolution is necessary for lasting stability. Lal listened to the students and gave them a patient hearing. He assured the delegation that he would look into the matters they raised.
